Continues. . .

The drinks may be the primary reason a good portion of the Clan left Britain to follow the Romans back to their homeland and their wineries.

Julius Caesar, according to Suetonius, while debating weather or not to cross the river Rubicon uttered the famous phrase "Alea iacta est."

One Coming of Age ritual called for a MacThoy youth to sneak into an enemy camp and down a keg of spirits.  Absconding with an enemy's steins earned the youth high marks.

However, there is a lesser known, albeit no less important phrase uttered by Caesar upon entering the vaunted city of Rome, "Habesne tormentum cochleatum extraculum?" (Have you a corkscrew?)

To my most worthy opponent in the funny sheet.--MacThoy toast from Roman times.

It was also at this time period that the popular MacThoy Easter Beer Hunt originated  to aid in survival when the beer supplies dwindled.
